Do you take an interest in what others have to say? Do you think anyone would be interested in what you have to say? One sure firecracker way to find out is to have a blog. You can't just throw one out there without having a purpose or putting any thought into it. If you are the conversational type you and your blog can become attached at the hip. The success of your blog will come from the natural inspiration that you will project to your readers. People will listen to those that have something interesting to say, and you will have to know what type of audience will be interested in what you have to say.
Many people make the mistake of using their blogs for a revenue source and portraying that to their readers. You don't want to make that your purpose. People can smell that a mile away, and they will leave and never return. It is not about you and what you are trying to sell, it is about your readers and the experiences they get to share with you. Your purpose should be to put your ideas out there in a dignified way that people will feel comfortable enough to interact and share their ideas too.
People will learn through conversations what your style is and what your gifts are. Think about how you want your readers to view you because they will form their own opinion of you. Of course not everyone is going to be interested in your topics of choice regardless of how respectful you are of your readers. Your blog post theme will determine your audience type. Be consistent in the theme of your blog posts so your dedicated readers will know what type of interaction they can expect when they visit. Whatever your theme is you need to talk to those people the way they would talk. If your blog posts attract moms, then talk like moms do. This way you know what your content should consist of so it targets to your audience. Let them see that there is a benefit to being a part of your blog by providing them with interesting chatter that relates to them. That is how you get returning followers.
The best readers a solid blog can have are the readers that choose you. Write with enthusiasm and flair about your topics because it will show. Encourage interaction from your readers by making them feel you care. Focus on your audience type and make your blog posts both interesting and valuable, so they feel they walked away with something they wanted. Impress somebody with every post you make.
