Software product design: apart from numerous definitions of the word “design,” you may well come across this one: “a coherent or purposeful pattern, as opposed to chaos,” and it can easily be applied to software product development sphere, where everything has to be calculated and recalculated dozens of times. But what exactly should be taken into consideration by independent software vendors and software product design providers?
In fact, the keystone of any project is taking all requirements and details most seriously. Or to be more exact, without specified and detailed requirements any project is groundless and both sides are running a high risk of a project failure.
Communicate, communicate, and again communicate – this is the only way to avoid situations, when a customer doesn’t feel satisfied with your software product design, while the provider doesn’t understand what the point is. “I saw it differently,” the customer says. “But how on earth could I have found out that?” thinks the provider. As a result, the new partnership, that was meant to turn into long-lasting and efficient cooperation, is ruined.
Actually, both are equally guilty in such misunderstanding. Let’s see what kind of behavior a customer and a provider are to pursue.
First, if you are a customer (either first-time or not) and you want to launch a software product design project, then you should be very careful about your project requirements. Who can tell more about your desired software product than you? Only you. That is why, describe the tiniest things you have in your mind: what kind of functions is the product to fulfill, who is going to work with it, whether you will need upgrades or not, even the color schemes, you think would be most appropriate. The dramatic moment here is to explain it all to your software product design provider, without omitting everything that is “implied.”
Now, if you are a provider, think what is of biggest importance to you? Right, your customer’s satisfaction (the higher, the better), which directly influences your professional reputation in the niche of software product design. Thus, help the customer explain every detail of the project, ask not only for the necessary technical information, but also for the variations, ideas, thoughts, associations, and even dreams, as your primary task is to make the customer’s dream come true. Saying it shortly, get inspired by the new software product design and try to learn as much as possible about it.
Finally, you should not just bear the idea in your mind, but stick to it in your daily routine, whether you are a customer or a provider. Remember, awareness is a sure way to successful offshore software product design. |
