To increase site traffic, you must be sure to use your primary keywords in your page title.  This not only means the visible title of your page like My Site on Teenage Acne, but the title tag which is visible to the search engines.

The title tag should be at the top of your web page and looks like this .  Place your site title here and when someone browses your page, whatever you have put will appear in the title bar of their browser.

The wording you put in the title tag is extremely relevant to how your page is ranked by the search engines and also how they list your page in their search results.

If your website is more than just a home page, the title of each page should appear in its title tag.  For example, if this article was appearing on my website, I would put this in my code .  Remember that I have already researched these keywords and discovered that people are searching for "increase site traffic", so I want the search engines to list my page using these keywords.

The content of your page, which of course will also use your primary keyword as well as related secondary keywords, as well as your title, will attract customers using a variety of search terms, so be sure that your title and content are relevant.

Unless the name of your business is very relevant to what you're trying to sell, it's a mistake to use it in the title tag of all your pages.  Your potential visitors probably don't care what the name of your company is; they just want to know what you're selling.  After they visit and decide that you have what they want, they may want to make a note of your company name.

Obviously, you will need your business name in the title of your home page but unless that name is also your keywords, add your keywords as well and you will rank much higher in the search engines.  In fact, your keywords should occupy the beginning of your title, followed by your company name.  Try to avoid using joining words like "and" and "at" as these are considered to be "stop" words in search engine optimisation.
