Very few people actually achieve the dream of blogging for profit, this is not because the person lacks intelligence, or is unwilling to to work hard, or has no basic grasp of blogging technology.

However, there are many people who do actually manage to reap the profits they want from their blog. Most people who do attempt to make money with their blogs do not succeed, mainly for two basic reasons. Often the first reason is that they have unrealistic expectations of how fast their readership will grow, and secondly how much money they will make.

When these expectations are not met, the disappointment can, and does, in many cases crush the desire to continue blogging. Another trap that many early bloggers fall into is because of their lack of planning in the early stages of setting up the blog. If you want to make a profit as a blogger, the key to your success is to make a realistic plan and stick with it.

To succeed at blogging for profit, you will need a large readership. The higher your
traffic to the blog, the more advertisers will agree to pay you. However, cultivating regular visitors that you will need in order to make a profit is not as easy as many would try to make you believe. As more and more blogs appear on a daily basis, having a great idea, or a different writing style, is no longer enough to get attention. You need to be able to market your blog effectively.
Far too many bloggers spend too much of their time writing posts and no time at all marketing their project. Updating your blog as often as you can is indeed a great way to keep your blog high on blogrolls and high in blog search engines like technorati and other social media sites. Once your readers know that you update frequently they will return to your site on a regular basis. However, it will not matter how often you update your blog if no one is going to be reading your pages, so it is better to spend more time drawing visitors to your site.

To turn your dreams of blogging for profit in to a reality, try decreasing the number of posts you make and use that time to draw new visitors by looking for link exchange opportunities with other bloggers, making new contacts in the blog community, and researching by looking carefully at other established blogs and the modes of winning traffic which they are employing.

Even if you are a marketing genius, or the theme of you blog is unique and interesting, success will not happen overnight. Building the kind of readership that blogging for profit requires takes time, and it may take several months before you are able to see a profit. You must try to stay committed to your blogging project, stay motivated, set goals for how often you will update the blog, how many readers you want to attract.

Only then will you be rewarded for have stuck with your plan.
