Who Will Be Article Content King?

The Article Content King “King & Prince Contest” officially begins today, 1st August 2009. The first King or Queen will be crowned on the 31st August. If you want to enter, all you have to do is activate your profile page in the members area and submit your best articles. (Click here to sign up free if you are not a member yet).

The “King Contest” Has Been Created For 2 Reasons.

1. To reward our authors for their articles and give the ones who are working for recognition rather than rankings, the rankings & recognition that they deserve.

2. To make Article Content King a little bit more special than the other article directories that you may submit articles to, in the hope that it will encourage more authors to submit well written, unique articles to the site.

And also, I guess to let the authors who are submitting mediocre articles that only just pass moderation that there is a lot more to be had if they pick up their game.

How Rankings Are Calculated

As you know, before it is published on the site, each article that is submitted has to be rated on a scale of 1-10 by 3 different members. The article goes live with a score equal to the total of the 3 votes received in moderation. So for example if 3 people rate the article as 5 out of 10, the article goes live with a score of 15. (Not enough to rank)

This score increases by +1 for every 100 unique visitors to the article and can be increased or decreased by visitors voting on the article. (Either +1 or -1). Of course, visitors can only vote on an article once and authors cannot vote on their own articles. (Cheats will be eliminated).

The “King” (or Queen) will be the person with the highest accumulative article score of all their articles, that were submitted in the last 90 days (as of 31st August), which have a rating above 15.

The “Princes” (or Princesses) will be those who have the highest accumulate score of all their articles that were submitted to a particular category in the last 120 days (as of 31st August), which have a rating above 15 .

What Will The Winners Receive?

Who ever is “crowned” King (or Queen) will…

1. be recognised on the home page, the top authors page and the members area with an “ad” linking to their profile page.  I.E. The best author on the site by popular opinion & number of articles is ___________

2.  be recognized on every page of the site via an announcement through the Wibiya toolbar.

3. have a full page (not post) dedicated to them & their online business endeavours on the Article-Content-King blog.

4. be recognised as the best author on the site and have their main businesses promoted in a high exposure PR Web press release. (min $240 value)

5. receive $100 cash

6. (optional) be interviewed by one the Article Content King team and have the interview posted to podcasting sites and social networks.

7. Have their status as King “Tweeted” to at least 100,000 Tweeple.

8. Receive (at least) 10,000 advertising credits to display their own targeted ads across the site.

The “Princes” (or Princesses) will…

1. be recognised on the category pages that they are the Prince of. (i.e. Our Top Author in The ______ Category is…) With a Pic and link to profile page.

2. Receive (at least) 1000 advertising credits to display their targeted ads on the site.

3. Earn 2 credits per article view, (or 4 credits if a Silver member) for as long as they hold the position.

4. Get a mention in press releases which announce the winners

5. (Optional) be Interviewed by one of the Article Content King team and have the Interview Podcasted.

6. Have their status Tweeted to at least 100,000 Tweeple.

The Prince positions are totally wide open. Some of the categories are empty of “decent” articles with a high enough score. If it remains this way at the end of the month, the categories will be dropped from the site. If you submit one good article in the meantime, you could be crowned Prince (or Princess).

Right now, it is looking like our first “King” will actually be a Queen. The current running makes the contest look like it will be a close race between Liz Canham and Roseanna Leaton, but really it’s anyone’s game. Anyone could win this month and a new authors will be crowned every month! Any effort you put in to win this month will count for next month too.

If Liz and Roseanna do not continue to submit articles over the next 30 days, their scores could be lower at the end of the month, as articles that are less than 90 days old now, will be more than 90 days old at the end of the month. (Remember, only articles that were submitted in the last 90 days count towards the authors score for King and 120 days for Prince).

Also, there are other authors on the list who have an higher average article score and some authors have not yet activated their profile pages. Until they do, they will not be eligible for the contest. We cannot link to a profile page that has not been set up.  <– Make sure you set up, and activate your profile page(s)
